At the upcoming ECOC in Rome, Albis will present its new PD40X1 photodiode chip with integrated backside lens targeting 56 Gbaud PAM4 and 100G Single Lambda applications. The small sized chip is said to offer excellent responsivity of 0.8 A/W at 1,310 nm. The integrated backside lens focuses the incoming light beam on the top side active area. This is designed to increase the effective detecting diameter, resulting in easy optical coupling.

The chip can also be supplied as a flip-chip mounted device on customised 2D or 3D (wrap-around) carriers. For example, the PS40X4 consists of an array of four, flip-chip soldered 56 Gbaud lensed photodiodes that can be used for 400GBASE-DR4 and 400G-FR4 applications.

Albis is exhibiting at the 2018 ECOC exhibition in Rome, booth 519.
