NEW – OPTICAL FIBRE GEOMETRY MEASUREMENT SYSTEM
Created July 29, 2016Arden Photonics is pleased to announce the introduction of the FGC range of optical fiber geometry measurement equipment. The FGC range provides high speed automated measurement of fiber end-face geometry including core diameter, core non-circularity, cladding diameter, cladding non-circularity and core-to-cladding concentricity.
The darkfield illumination system allows the software to show a clear live image of the end face of the fibre by illuminating the end face of the fibre and imaging the reflected light. This allows users to inspect the end face of the fibre whilst taking geometry measurements. The darkfield method of fibre geometry measurement is supported by both NPL in the UK and NIST in the USA.
Options are available for measuring large diameter fibers (up to 1mm diameter) and specialty fibers such as double-clad, non-circular (e.g. octagonal), multicore and PM fibers. Side-view coating options are also available.
Complete measurement takes under 20 seconds. Specially designed holders, fiber handling bench and traceable calibration ensure repeatability of < 0.05µm on core and cladding diameters.
The technology used in the FGC is based on our world-leading MPX Encircled Flux meter which is used by many of the world’s fibre and cable manufacturers, also in many research laboratories.
