Coherent Solutions announces the addition of a new functional module to their MTP1000 modular test platform. The PolBlade is the new polarization controller module that adds automatic polarization control functionality to their test automation platform. Its addition allows users to achieve remote operation and automation of polarization dependent testing from one MTP1000 mainframe. The user controls three voltage settings of the PolBlade to control the polarization, or it can be put into scrambling mode which gives a fast and even coverage of all states of polarization. PolBlade comes with the benefit of flexible connectivity of the MTP1000 platform, such as USB and Ethernet connectivity, intuitive software controller and SCPI remote command support. So, whether you are trying to measure the Polarization Extinction Ratio (PER) or Polarization Dependent Loss (PDL), now you can have all your measurements at your fingertips.

The MTP1000 holds up to 9 Blades in a single unit, you can integrate 5 different types of blades per unit, and up to 1024 units per configuration. All this can be controlled individually or in sync through one, intuitive software application.

The MTP1000 integrates 5 different blades;

LaserBlade – The LaserBlade holds 2 or 4 lasers of your choice

VOABlade – The VOABlade holds 2 or 4 attenuators

PowerBlade – The PowerBlade holds up to 4 inline power meters

Optical SwitchBlade – The Optical SwitchBlade holds a 1 x 2 or 1 x 4 port configuration optical switch

PolBlade – The PolBlade holds 1 polarization controller per blade
