Huber+Suhner meets future capacity needs with IANOS fibre management system

HUBER+SUHNER, a manufacturer of components and systems for optical and electrical connectivity, has launched the IANOS, a new fibre management system, at the Data Centre World expo in London.

The IANOS concept facilitates Base-2, 8, 12 and 24 pre-terminated cable systems for best in class density, speed of installation, handling and scalability, all of which are key factors in future-proofing data centres.

With future-proofing of data centres becoming nothing short of essential, IANOS is designed to accommodate a quick, simple and inevitable upgrade path from 10G serial to 40G and 100G parallel optics. “This is undoubtedly our most advanced and adaptable fibre management system to date,” said Urs Ryffel, COO Fibre Optics at HUBER+SUHNER. “We chose the name IANOS – derived from Janus, the Roman deity that looks both to the past and the future – as it reflects the system’s ability to both improve existing data centres when retrofitted and provides the most effective, efficient solution possible for new builds.”

By using IANOS, HUBER+SUHNER customers could occupy as little space as possible with passive equipment and deploy more means of generating revenue in their data centres. IANOS is claimed to offer the highest possible packing density without compromising handling.

The highly-scalable nature of IANOS allows customers to ‘pay as they grow’, adding modular components as and when they are required. Modules of different application, sizes and connectivity types can be mixed and matched, while likelihood of human error is reduced thanks to colour coding of components and universal adaptors.

“We chose Data Centre World as the launch platform for our new solution which will become the focal point of our growing data centre portfolio,” said Ryffel. “As the world’s largest gathering of key players in the data centre field, this is the perfect stage. We are very excited to showcase it and demonstrate what it has to offer to our customers.”
