Cisco has deployed 32 TelePresence SX80 Codecs, in the Punto México Conectado (PMC) network of digital centres, in Mexico, working with Cisco’s local market channel partners. The PMC’s will also have access to the Cisco WebEx collaboration solutions.

Cisco solutions, which now support the services offered by the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo Leon at PMCs, will help to establish the connection via Internet between sites. They will also support external organizations, such as academy and industry, to promote collaboration, and enhance the social impact of the PMC in the community where they are based.

Additionally, three PMC will host a Cisco Networking Academy with the initial learning programs, and they will also have a IoT/IoE Innovation Lab to develop talent and promote innovation in the country. Courses of the Networking Academy will also be available to the 32 sites through these solutions and supported by America Digital, Cisco Non-profit Partner to promote Digital Inclusion.

Rogelio Velasco, Vice President Cisco México, commented, “Cisco is committed with the development of IT in the country and the digital social inclusion. Now working with the Universidad de Nuevo Leon, to deploy Cisco TelePresence and WebEx solutions in the 32 PMCs, we drive up the PMC network helping to develop collaboration as well as knowledge through the Cisco Networking Academy and IoT/IoE Innovation Labs to the 105,000 attendees nationwide.”

Punto Mexico Conectado is a national network of community centres for digital education and training across Mexico. There are 32 sites, one in each state of the country. There, the attendees have access to new technologies and learn how to use them, with the objective of developing creativity and starting innovative projects. Up to date PMCs have received over 105,000 participants.

The courses available in PMC through Cisco Networking Academy include: Digital Inclusion, Linux Essentials, Introduction to Internet of Everything, Introduction to Cybersecurity, Collaboration applications, Techno-Entrepreneurship and Be Your Own Boss.

The IoT/IoE Innovation Labs provide Software Development Kits combining local resources and testing spaces based in the cloud, as well as learning tools to foster innovation through development and entrepreneurship of Internet of Everything applications supported by the Cisco technology platform and its ecosystem.
